Ten International Broadcasters from across the continent will be televising the Samokov 2014 SPAR European Cross Country Championships this weekend.
National Broadcasters in Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom plan to show more than 25 hours of live or delayed coverage of the championships’ 21st edition.
European Athletics will also stream live on the www.european-athletics.org homepage the SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 14 December with English-language commentary. Athletics fans around the world will be able to watch the championships live in their entirety. The live streaming platform is provided in partnership with European Athletics' principal sponsor SPAR.
Fans will also be able to instantly rewind the action and watch video on demand of an event just a few minutes after it has finished if they go to the http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ea/index.html platform.
European Athletics and appointed officials had their first coordination site visit to Bulgaria. A delegation of 6 persons inspected the preparations for the European Cross Country Championships in Samokov on 14 of December 2014.
The first event coordination meeting for this year was led by 8José Luis deCarlos (ESP), European Athletics Vice President. The Technical Delegate for thecompetition Jos van Roy (BEL) attended as well.
The delegation visited the course where the experts gave their recommendations for its preparation. The course is to be ready by the end of May. The hotels in which athletes, officials, VIP-guests and other staff will be accommodated during the European championships were also visited.
Various aspects of the planning for the organization were discussed in the afternoon with members of the Local organising committee.
The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Mr. Mihail Mikov, who is the patron of the European Cross Country Championships in Samokov in December, received members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The competition will be held on 14th of December in Rila Mountain and the LOC is already working on it.
The discussion took place in Mikov's office in the National Assembly. Dobromir Karamarinov, President of Bulgarian athletic federation, Ruen Panchev, Vice-president, Vladimir Georgiev, Mayor of Samokov Municipality, Slaveyko Gerginov, president of the athletics club of Samokov, Galia Puhaleva and Anton Bonov, LOC Coordinators reported the on-going preparations. Mikov was familiarised with the project for financial support to be filed at the Ministry of Youth and Sport and all other aspects of the organisation. He guaranteed his full support for the successful realisation of the event.
Over 200 million people in 50 countries will watch the European Cross Country championships to be broadcasted by EBU.
